Eddie Ekiyor '16 (Ottawa, Ontario) only had one field goal, but it was the go-ahead bucket with six seconds left as New Hampton scored a 63-61 road win over Northfield Mount Hermon on Friday night.
Both teams came out raining jump shots in the first half before the defenses settled in. Thanks to a late flurry, the Huskies went into the break leading 34-27. In the second frame, the Huskies quickly opened up their biggest lead of the game at 14 before NMH climbed back within 5. With three minutes left, the Huskies found themselves up 61-51, but the homestanding Hoggers would not go quietly, reeling off a 10-0 run capped by a three pointer to tie the game with 51 seconds left. The Huskies missed an open look to take the lead, but Ekiyor kept the possession alive with an offensive rebound. The final sequence saw John Crosby '15 (Baltimore, MD), who scored 13 points on the night, come up short with his floater, only to have Ekiyor corral the rebound and put it in for the winning bucket. NMH was unable to get off a rebuttal as AJ Turner '15 (New Haven, MI) stole a pass on the ensuing possession.
Tyler Lydon '15 (Elisaville, NY) led the Huskies with 22 points, who are now off until Wednesday, when they will travel to Bridgton for another league matchup.
