New Hampton School will be represented in next month’s Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia. Dylan Ferguson ’06, a native of Amesbury, Massachusetts, will represent the United States in freestyle ski aerials after great performances the last month.
“I’m stoked,” Ferguson told the Newburyport News. “I was kind of freaking out before it happened. I’ve watched the Olympics since I was a kid.”
Ferguson’s 17th overall finish at the Nature Valley Freestyle World Cup in Lake Placid sealed his Olympic berth, but it was his best ever finish in a World Cup event (sixth) on January 15, that vaulted him into his spot as the 14th ranked aerial skier in the world.
“I can remember the first time I watched freestyle skiing on TV as a kid, it was during the Olympics,” Ferguson said. “Now to be in the Olympics is ridiculous.”
Ferguson is currently at a two-week preparation camp with other team members in Park City, Utah.
