The Huskies took to Kennedy Field on Saturday evening for their regular season opener. After finishing the preseason without allowing a goal, New Hampton continued picked up right where they left off with the defensive line standing strong in front of Danika Virgin '26 who picked up her first regular season shutout in net. With the visitors looking to attack New Hampton down the flanks, the outside back rotation of Fia Swormstedt '26, Gianna Young '26, Tahlia Pena '25, and Aniyaha Perez '25 did well to defend the wide spaces and help push the attack forward.
After an evenly matched opening to the game, Kaylie Reeve '26 opened the scoring with eight minutes to go in the half after intercepting a Cushing clearance before finishing to the far post. Reeve would then double the lead three minutes later after running onto a free kick from Addyson Peel '26. The Huskies took the 2-0 lead into halftime.
The second half saw New Hampton continue to absorb pressure from the visitors while also threatening forward with strong flank play from Brielle Lee '27, Casey Stores '27, Ava Perry '27, Elizabeth Vincent '27, Audra Custance '28, Taylor Smith '28, and Nellie MacDonald '26.
New Hampton is back in action on Wednesday as they hit the road to face Vermont Academy.
