Huskies Dominate in First Scrimmage Against Beaver Country Day School

After two weeks of hard work and preparation, the Huskies were eager to hit the field for their first scrimmage of the season. Traveling to the Boston area to face off against Beaver Country Day School, the team arrived a bit late due to traffic, but that didn’t dampen their spirits. The Huskies took the field with a high-energy warm-up and were ready to play from the first whistle.
Right out of the gate, the Huskies dominated possession, immediately putting pressure on Beaver’s defense. They maintained control in the offensive end, earning several corners through relentless play. Though the corner executions were sharp, some of the tips went just wide. However, the breakthrough came soon after when Kennedy Walker found the back of the net, putting the Huskies up 1-0.
From there, the Huskies never looked back. Walker and Julia Loughlin each recorded hat tricks, adding to the team’s offensive onslaught. The entire roster saw playing time, and it was a memorable day for several Huskies, as Brooke King, Eva Adams, and Kaya Farnsworth each scored their first varsity goals.
On the defensive side, the Huskies were so dominant that goalkeeper Mary-Ann didn’t touch the ball in the first half. When called into action in the third quarter, she made two solid saves to preserve the lead. Luna took over in goal for the fourth quarter, bringing great energy and holding the line as the game wound down.
Although it was largely an offensive display, the Huskies impressed with their ability to re-defend quickly after turnovers, keeping Beaver Country Day from mounting any serious threats.
It was a strong and fun start to the season for the Huskies, who will continue to build on this momentum as they prepare for their next challenge: Exeter on Wednesday, September 11th!
