Win at the Water

New Hampton School defeats Brewster Academy at Brewster
The away game at Brewster Academy started off rocky for New Hampton. Our ball bag accidentally went to Proctor Academy on the field hockey bus, leaving us to borrow balls from Brewster. On top of that, we had players missing jerseys, socks, and shinguards. As we prepared for kickoff, the Huskies confidently took the field—on the wrong side.
This disarray led to a rough start, and Brewster capitalized quickly, scoring within the first minute with a laser shot into the back of the net. It seemed like it could be a long afternoon for the JV Huskies, but that early goal was just what the team needed to get fired up. The defense tightened up, the midfield found its rhythm, and the wings and forwards turned on the speed. Goalie Owen found himself a little bored in the box, but still was focused and picked up anything that dribbled his way.  He played an aggressive line out which was intimidating to the Bobcat offense and they found it difficult to get a strong touch.
Pedro, controlling the midfield, scored a highlight-worthy goal in the first half. Dan, our center midfielder, followed with a stunning corner kick that curved directly into the net. Then Griffin, our physical striker, bulldozed through for two goals, matched by freshman Jakobi, who also netted two.
We saw some great touches from Jacob, while Tosin, the fastest player on the field, was a defensive powerhouse, preventing any threats from reaching our goal. Eli, Landon, and Rielly worked cohesively in the back, proving almost impenetrable. Quinn and Carter showcased their versatility, playing gritty and adjusting wherever they were needed. Chase was physical up front, creating solid chances, and our newest teammate, Sebastian, made an impact with great crosses from the wing.
Finally, Beau showed his growth on defense, staying square and clearing the ball effectively.
In the end, what started off as a chaotic day turned into a dominant 6-1 victory, with the Huskies showing their resilience and determination. Go Huskies!!
