Huskies Secure First Shutout of the Season Against Proctor
The Huskies hit the road for their second Lakes Region matchup of the season, taking on Proctor on a stunning New Hampshire day. After weeks of summer heat, it was a welcome change for perfect field hockey conditions.
The Huskies came out strong, brimming with power and energy from the start. Proctor fought back, but the Huskies’ defense held firm, shutting down Proctor's offensive corners and quickly transitioning the ball up the field. Julia Loughlin opened the scoring, finding the back of the net and putting the Huskies on the board.
Demonstrating excellent communication and inside-out passing, the Huskies made full use of the field's width. Julia Loughlin struck again, netting her second goal of the game, showcasing the team's strong coordination. Lola Gallo followed with her first goal as a Husky, delivering a powerful strike from the edge of the circle. Emma MacPherson then secured her first goal of the season, pushing the Huskies to a commanding 4-0 lead over Proctor.
With a comfortable lead, several Huskies got valuable playing time. Mary-Ann McMaugh was solid in goal for three quarters, while Luna McCulloch stepped in for the fourth, showing her strength between the posts. Though the Huskies dominated offensively, it was the defense that truly shined—setting block tackles, creating defensive walls, and executing doubles with precision.
The 4-0 victory marked the Huskies’ first shutout of the season, and they look forward to another Lakes Region contest on Wednesday.
