The Huskies delivered another stellar performance, shutting out KUA thanks to their tenacious defense and relentless energy on the field. The defense stood tall throughout the game, executing excellent clears and showing strong sticks on defensive corners, which played a pivotal role in maintaining the clean sheet.
Coming off three hard-fought battles that ended in losses last year, the Huskies were determined to turn the tide this time around. KUA started the match with intensity, keeping the Huskies on their toes for the first seven minutes. However, the Huskies soon found their rhythm and began to dominate offensively. With 5:38 left in the first quarter, Kennedy Walker broke through the KUA defense and slotted the ball past their goalie, putting the Huskies up 1-0.
Despite numerous offensive opportunities, the fierce KUA goalie stood strong, coming out hard to challenge every shot. Her performance was impressive, but the Huskies' relentless pressure eventually paid off. Four minutes into the second quarter, Lola Gallo added another goal, giving the Huskies a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
After the first half, KUA focused their defense on shutting down Kennedy, but she skillfully used her speed and positioning to remain a threat. The Huskies adjusted well, working as a unit to create space for her and maintain offensive pressure. Emma MacPherson consistently sent quality balls up the sideline throughout the game. She made multiple great runs down the sideline and delivered several flat passes into the circle, putting her teammates in excellent scoring positions. While they couldn’t tip one past the KUA goalie, the Huskies remained aggressive, always prepared for rebounds.
With just under seven minutes left in the third quarter, Julia Loughlin added the Huskies' third goal, lifting the ball beautifully into the net after two saves on an offensive corner. Her precision shot went bar down, sealing the game for the Huskies.
Although the fourth quarter remained scoreless, the team stayed composed and played hard until the final whistle. It was a true team effort, and the Huskies should be proud of their work today. They now look ahead to another big Lakes Region matchup on Saturday against Holderness.
