With a focus on skills, fitness and fun, the New Hampton Mountain Bike Team trains at various local trail networks during one of the most spectacular times of year in New England. The terrain ranges from dirt roads and smooth flowing single track to very technical and rugged trails with steep climbs and rocky descents. These trails help riders of all ability levels to develop and sharpen their skills and build confidence while having a lot of fun. We also ride and maintain our ever-improving home course on a regular basis.
The team competes in the Lakes Region and Northern New England Race Series against public and private schools and clubs. “Cross-country” style races are held throughout the season at various schools, with each race having three different levels for boys and girls. All riders compete against others with similar ability, from experts to beginners. We welcome all adventurous riders to join us in one of the most exciting life sports.
As always, Cardigan's trails are some of the most fun trails to ride. They host a great event and our team had a lot of fun. Caleb Palowich led the way for the huskies once again and has continued to show improvement in his results looking for his first top 10 finish. Ben Hamson did exceptionally well and passed many riders along the way. Jakob Ahearn's chain fell off as the race started, but after getting it back on was still able to finish in the middle of the pack which was impressive as he was the last rider off the start.
At our annual home race, 8 schools from around New Hampshire and Mass came to compete. There were 91 riders in C class and Caleb Palowich led the huskies coming in 14th place. Jeronimo Parra Garcia came in 38th while Sam Gilman came in 47th. The coaches have seen significant improvement thus far and are looking forward to a great ending of the season.
The Huskies started the season with the largest race of the year. There were around 400 riders in all! In C class Caleb Palowich finished in 58th place in his first race ever and Jeronimo finished in 75th place. The course feels tight with the number of riders competing at the same time. It was a good experience and we look forward to building on this performance during the season.
