With a focus on skills, fitness and fun, the New Hampton Mountain Bike Team trains at various local trail networks during one of the most spectacular times of year in New England. The terrain ranges from dirt roads and smooth flowing single track to very technical and rugged trails with steep climbs and rocky descents. These trails help riders of all ability levels to develop and sharpen their skills and build confidence while having a lot of fun. We also ride and maintain our ever-improving home course on a regular basis.
The team competes in the Lakes Region and Northern New England Race Series against public and private schools and clubs. “Cross-country” style races are held throughout the season at various schools, with each race having three different levels for boys and girls. All riders compete against others with similar ability, from experts to beginners. We welcome all adventurous riders to join us in one of the most exciting life sports.
Cardigan Mountain is one of our favorite races each year. The trails have great flow and are a lot of fun to ride. Grant finished 34th out of 70 riders in C class while Jessie came in 9th for the girls in C class. Great work for all of our riders!
NHS hosted 9 schools on our home mountain bike trails! Around 150 riders competed. It is a lot of work preparing for this race but always worth it. Our team worked hard and Grant Hanowell was out top finisher in 39th place in C class. Ben Hamson finished in 46th place. Great work team and we look forward to the rest of our season.
New Hampton started the season by racing at Proctor with around 30 other schools from New England. All of our riders competed in C class with around 200 other riders. For many of our riders this was their first race. The race course was around 2 miles and each rider had to complete 2 laps. Our team's top finisher was Grant in 64th place! It is a great race to build upon as our other races will be much smaller in the number of riders.
