New Hampton got their first Lakes Region League win of the year on Monday with a 9-6 win over Brewster Academy at Gnerre Field.
In just the 2nd game of the season and their first league contest, New Hampton jumped out to an early league and never looked back. After a Bodie Bartram lead-off homerun and a 2-run blast by Tanner Keenan, the Huskies found themselves up 5-0 after the first inning. The Huskies offense would put up 2 more runs in the 4th inning and another run in the 5th on a towering homer by Hayden Weeks to put the Huskies up 8-4. The Huskies would eventually go on to win 9-6. The offense was led by Tanner Keenan who went 2-3 on the day with a homer and a triple and Hayden Weeks who went 2-4 with a homerun and and double.
Defensively, the Huskies were led by Griffin Taylor and Dylan Fanale. Griffin played flawless in the field and had 2 highlight reel defensive plays. Dylan was a wall behind the plate and threw out the only attempted base stealer at 2nd base. Bodie Bertram, Kyle Farrell, and Conor Griffin all saw time on the mound for the Huskies.
The Huskies will travel to Kimball Union Academy on Wednesday afternoon for their next league contest. Game time is slated for 3:00 pm.
