New Hampton Splits Series with Hoosac

New Hampton hit the road today for the long trip to Hoosick Falls, NY, for a rematch with Hoosac School. The two teams played each other just 5 days ago and the Huskies came out on top 49-41.

It was a slow start for both teams with the score standing at 6-10 after the first quarter. Serenity Lancaster heated up in the second quarter scoring 7 of her 14 points for the game. Both teams scored 17 points in the 3rd quarter, Elyse Ngenda netting 11 of them for the Huskies. The score heading into the 4th and final quarter stood at 37-42.

Strong defense by Kitt Jones held Hoosac's talented guard, Moser, to just 4 points in the final 8 minutes, but two 3-pointers from Osu was a momentum killer for New Hampton. The Huskies continued to battle but could not overcome the deficit before time ran out . Final score: 48-59.

Ngenda finished with a team-high 16 points. She and Lancaster each pulled down 8 rebounds, while Jones had 6. Casey Stores and Shannon O'Leary netted 6 points apiece. Ngenda led the team in assists with 4. Tahlia Pena dished 3, and Lancaster had 2.

The Huskies will go to battle with another AAA opponent, Nobles, on Saturday at home.
