New Hampton School JVA Men's Soccer traveled with the JVB team to Cardigan Mt School for a Jamboree. Each team had three 30 minute games. With a last minute shift in the schedule our JVA team made some adjustments to positions. In our first game against KUA's JVA program we played on a short and narrow field. This challenged out players to use more passing and foot skills. KUA was a big physical team but our defense was superior and nothing got through. Our power and speed on the offense was difficult to utilize on the small field and found ourselves tangled up in the middle. Pedro was outstanding controlling the midfield for all 30 minutes. In our second game we played Cardigan's B team so we mixed up the positions and let some of our starters have a break. That said Carter was in net an Owen played striker, both easily transitioned and Owen scored 2 goals for the Huskies. We had three more goals from Ryan, Rielly, and Song for a 5-0 win. The final game was immediately after against Cardigan's JVA team. This was a little more of a challenge for our players and we resumed our normal positions. The boys were tiered in the last part of the game and Cardigan had grit and good foot skills that kept our team on their toes. We had several great crosses and opportunities that we just couldn't finish and Owen was back in net doing a great job working with a tired defense. Again Pedro dominated the midfield and everyone agreed he was the MVP for the day. A goal from Chase rounded out the day and we won 1-0. A great day for the Huskies and a good look at KUA who we will meet again on a big field.
