The Huskies battled the Holderness Bulls amidst some wild windy weather. The first half saw Holderness take control early, jumping out to a 2-0 lead. However, New Hampton responded with tenacity. Hayden Weeks found the back of the net with a spectacular volley, thanks to a beautifully placed cross from Tanner Keenan, cutting the deficit to 2-1. Just before halftime, New Hampton capitalized on a crucial moment; Harry Jenkins launched a long punt that Tanner Keenan skillfully turned into a breakaway, slotting it home to tie the game at 2-2. The second half proved to be a battle for both sides, with both teams generating opportunities but unable to convert. As time wound down, Holderness managed to break the deadlock with under five minutes remaining, regaining a 3-2 lead. New Hampton rallied for one last push, but a corner kick opportunity was thwarted as time expired.
While the result wasn’t what we hoped for, the determination and teamwork displayed by our players were commendable. On to the next!
