Baseball Men's-Varsity
2024 - 2025
Head Coach: Justin Carey
A perennial title contender in the Lakes Region League, New Hampton baseball is the defending Lakes Region Champion after finishing 15-3 in 2016 and capturing the Lakes Region regular season and tournament crown. This is the second Lakes Region Championship in four years (2013) for the Huskies, and the team looks to add on to it’s long and storied history in 2017.
Countless student-athletes have learned to love the game taking grounders and shagging flies on Gnerre Field, situated at the center of New Hampton's campus, including 17-year MLB pitcher Roberto Hernandez '84 (see story). The team has earned 15 league titles since 1990 (26 in total since 1960) and will be looking for another in 2017.
The program can also claim a long list of alumni who have gone on to successful collegiate careers after their time as Huskies, including current alums competing at Northeastern University, Stetson University, Southern New Hampshire University, Colby College, Castleton State, and Plymouth State.
Led by second year Head Coach Greg Ladd, a former collegiate pitcher and captain at Colby College, the baseball Huskies look to battle their way back to a championship in 2017. The goal of the coaching staff is to bring energy and passion to the field, while developing players' skills and knowledge of the game. The program holds high expectations in effort, character and sportsmanship.
The varsity program plays a 20-game schedule, with league games against rival Lakes Region schools KUA, Tilton, Proctor, Vermont, Holderness, and Brewster, and non-league games against traditionally strong baseball programs such as Phillips Exeter and BB&N.
Facilities include the outdoor Lou Gnerre field, an indoor utility space complete with pitching mounds and space for an infield, and an indoor hitting tunnel. The team also makes use of the school's weight room and workout facilities. New Hampton baseball welcomes all baseball players. From the aspiring high-level collegiate player to the player eager to learn the game, there is a place for you at New Hampton. Come be a part of the tradition…
